A Low Cost Lifesaver for You and Your Pet

I have to tell you about a must have product that has saved my life and the lives of my two dogs on more than one occasion. It’s a pet blinker safety light and it’s awesome. I often walk my two dogs in the morning … in the dark. And, since we don’t have sidewalks where we live I’ve often find myself rushing into the grass with my dogs as cars head our way without seeing us. This was before the pet blinker safety light.

I can’t tell you how many mornings this has saved our lives — as cars head right at us (we always walk toward oncoming traffic) they then see the light and quickly move to the other side of the road. It happened again just today. A life saver. My big dog wears one as she’s always leading the ‘pack’, and I have one too.

I have been stopped several mornings by neighbors wanting to know where they could get one. My were gifts, but you can get them online. I did a search for “pet blinker”,“safety light” and “blinker safety light” and they are everywhere — Amazon, PetSmart, PupLife, and many more. There are several different varieties and they are inexpensive at just $4.00 – $7.00.You can’t put a price on safety, and this is a very low cost way to better ensure your safety and the safety of your loved ones.

The ones that I have are flat and blink on one side (see below). The only problem there is that they often get turned around and the lighted side is against the fur … obviously not as effective. Next I will try the one that lights on both sides or out of the bottom as pictured above. With a simple on-off button you can turn them off when not needed, and they take standard watch batteries for replacements.

Other Uses:

• This would also be a great idea for kids who are walking to the bus stop in the dark. Just clip one on their backpack and cars can see them coming.
• Put one your dog when you let him out in the dark backyard at night to “do his business” so you can see him in the yard.
• Use when hiking or kayaking at dusk, dawn, or at night for enhanced visibility so that you can see each other and so that others can see you.
• Where when bike riding in darker conditions.
• I’ve also used it to “flag” someone down and get their attention on the side of the road by waving it.
• Wear when boating at night.
• Great to have when trick-or-treating.
