My husband is the TV junkie in our house. We just canceled cable and got DirecTV. We did save quite a bit of money each month and I must say I do love the DVR aspect. But, your way is much wiser! We don't have cable, so we get about 4 channels with our antenna, but we rarely turn on the TV anyway. We have DSL, so we watch TV shows online. A bonus with this is that you can watch your shows whenever it is convenient for you--like after the kids are in bed. You can also pause it if kids are interrupting you--like coming downstairs 3 times! I guess this is also true of Tivo, but we don't have to pay for it! :-) Go to the website of your favorite show's channel (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, etc). Most of them have shows available to watch online for free. The one channel I would watch all the time if I had cable is HGTV. Go to the website of your favorite show’s channel (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, etc). Most of them have shows available to watch online for free.
