Stuffitis … do you have it? It’s the fast-tracking syndrome overtaking the nation!
A great fan and reader suggested this topic and it should be a great concern for all of us. We’ve become a nation consumed with stuff. Our economy has become a production economy and consumption has become our way of life. Our self worth and satisfaction is being dictated by what we have and what we buy.
Advertising is at the root of all of this (yes … the industry that I’ve been immersed in for 20+ years). Ads convince us that we must have that new trendy fashion or tech gadget. And if we don’t … well then we’re not cool. It all plays on our lack of confidence and our how we perceive our self-worth that is propped up and fed by the buying system.
We shop and buy stuff to feel better … and then we need to keep working to pay for the stuff we buy … and then we’re still unhappy so we buy more stuff. And the cycle continues. We have more stuff, but less time to enjoy it and it’s a vicious cycle that we need to stop!

Next … take 20 incredibly worthwhile minutes and watch the full video on the Story of Stuff. It’s honest, truthful, insightful and will forever change the way you think about stuff.
I’ve always preached to make it memorable and not material and this is what the Story of Stuff is all about. I promise it will forever change your need for stuff … if of course you’re remotely conscious of this in the first place.
We need to chuck the throw away mindset and embrace longevity, sustainability, and feeding our inner emotions and soul with personal pursuits and passions … and not a bunch of crap that collects dust and then gets discarded at an alarming rate.
Stuff. Less is more. Remember that.
